I would suggest working out the largest muscles in the body. Legs and back. Those have the largest energy expense and will give visible results faster.
Do workouts that combine cardio and strength into one. Think crossfit/HIIT workouts. A workout doesn’t have to last 3 hours to be effective.
Don’t be over enthusiastic to start. Start working out every other day. Maybe only 3 days a week. If you make yourself into a big ball of injury right from the start you’re not going to get very far. Work your way up to daily workouts. On your off days, do stretching or yoga if you really feel like you need to be doing something.
Learn to jump rope. It’s a great workout that you can do just about anywhere and it doesn’t take much time.
Burpees. Learn them. Learn all the zillion and one variations. Do those too.
Man makers. Do them.
Kettlebell swings. Do them in between doing burpees.
Insert something about hating life in here.
Check out my WODs. They are all geared towards (what I think) you’re looking for.
Be safe. Don’t be dumb. Have good form before you have high weight. Play it smart. Use a mirror when you lift. Check out your form before you check out your butt.
Find what works for you and go with it. If you find something you enjoy more than something else, then stick with it. You’re more likely to be successful if you enjoy what you’re doing. Like crossfit? Do it. Hate running? Don’t do it. Like biking? Do it. You get my point.
I’ve found success is linked to the joy you get from doing the workout.
Cheers,
~Bonnie
To be honest, I usually put so much “stuff” into my salad that I rarely need dressing.
BUT, when I do have a hankering for dressing, (this needs at least 24 hours to make) this is what I make:
- Balsamic vinegar (the good kind. If it costs less than $15 for a small bottle it’s junk. Put it back. Get a better one. You won’t regret it.)
- craisins, raisins, dried blueberries and dried cherries (I buy a mixed bag with all 4 already in it) and dried mulberries
- Soak the dried fruit in the balsamic vinegar over night in the fridge and then use as your dressing. You can add some lemon juice to it if you want, the fruit can make it a bit sweet.
It’s insanely delicious, natural and good for you. YAY!
Cheers,
~Bonnie
They are actually the same grain. White has the husk removed and brown does not. The husk changes the texture a little bit and it does contain most of the fiber content of the rice. Other than that… it’s not much of a difference.
You can also consider mixing the two together when cooking, doing 3 Tbsp white to 1 Tbsp brown (for a single serving) to maybe work into liking it? Or look into purple rice (because eating purple things makes them taste better… true story. I love the stuff) or try wild rice.
I’m answering this publicly because I think it’s good information for people to have.
(Much love for this pretty lady. She’s smart (super pretty) and loves to back things up with science. How could I not love her?)

You’re kidding, right?
Surely you jest.
If you consider it rude to point out the importance of safety over price… you should just delete your internet. You’re done. Go home.
Getting ambiguous and vague asks all the time becomes tedious. If you want a solid answer, ask a solid question. I shouldn’t have to do all the footwork to answer a question as well as decipher the deeper meaning of the question. (In the case of that question: “crazy expensive” That term means nothing to me. “Crazy expensive” compared to what? Based off what scale?)
Now, be gone.

(There. I figure if people are going to bunch up their panties over nothing, I may as well take advantage of it.)
What is your definition for “crazy expensive”?
You’re buying (and shipping) a heavy metal object. Do you want it to work well? Do you want it to be made from good materials? Because the last thing I want to deal with is a rinky-dink dumbbell breaking over my head and knocking me stupid.
If you buy them as a pair, you can save quite a bit of money. We got them off Amazon and you can find the listing here. They aren’t the top of the line, but they seem to work well.

I just wanted to let you know that I joined Tumblr just so I could tell you how much I love what you’re doing on here! How could I resist a confident, sexy woman who works out hard AND plays D&D!
:D Thank you so much!!! This message is so humbling! I’ll do my best to keep it solid! :D
I hope you find that tumblr treats you well!!
Clearly you know exactly what to do, since you just told me what the issue is.
- Find your issue.
- Stop doing the thing that causes the issue.
- Continue to not do that thing.
I don’t “prepare” I “do” and “cleaning up” sounds a lot like “preparing” to me. It’s a lifestyle change, not the apocalypse. There’s is no preparation. You aren’t waiting for it to happen, you are making it happen.
So, are you going to make it happen?
Cheers,
~Bonnie
Define “better”
Tastes better? Matter of opinion.
Has better health benefits? Not better… just different.
Define “other” tea.
Herbal tea? (Which isn’t actually tea) or white and black tea?
Black, white, green and oolong tea are all the same plant. They are all from the Camellia plant family and it’s just a matter of when they are harvested and if they are allowed to ferment.
Red tea is aka rooibos and is from an African bush and is actually part of the legume family.
Mate is a species of holly.
There are so many teas and your question is incredibly vague.
How about this: drink the type of tea you enjoy most, and try to drink it without any added cream or sugar. Poof… magic… they are all good for you.
Cheers,
~Bonnie

Love you, babe. :D
Pay attention, child, or you’ll miss all the good stuff.
I’ma make you scroll to find it… as penance.
That’s AWESOME!!! Thank you so much!!
:D
Hey there! I’m going to post this publicly since I have this same question in my inbox three times. I guess it’s pull up season?
Now, when you say pull ups, I presume you mean chin ups? With your palms facing in? Pull ups is palms facing away from you (which is a back and shoulders exercise) where chin ups, with palms facing in, targets the chest and arms.
Here is my chin up routine. Do this a couple of times per week and you’ll be doing chin ups (or pull ups) like a pro!
If you can’t get over the bar from a dead-hang, then jump into it. That’s how I started. I couldn’t get myself to 90° at all. Not once. Not ever. I was a complete wild woman jumping at my bar. Kicking, flailing, cursing… you know… whatever it took. To start, it won’t be pretty. It will be very NOT pretty. It will be UGLY.
And remember, if you’re bad at something and want to get good at it… you have to do it. Accept no substitutions.
You can do incline pull ups from under a table if you want.
You can also do dead hangs (with your chin over the bar)… just stay there as long as you can. When you’re about to pass out, say a new and interesting swear word and count ten, then come down.
You can invest $15 in an assistance band (I have a 10 lb band. It makes a HUGE difference. I can do pull ups and chin ups all day with that thing.)
Keep at it! You’ll get there!
Cheers,
~Bonnie
Thanks! I’m glad to see others who feel the same.
I feel like people allow guilt to make decisions for them, and that’s not healthy.
“No” is always a viable answer. And you know what, sometimes your reason can be as simple as “I don’t want to.”
You are not obligated to do things for other people. You are not obligated to bite your tongue, to sacrifice yourself or bend your truth just because it may hurt or offend. Truth is truth, whether you like it or believe it.
There are also no excuses. Reasons are one thing, but excuses are completely different. Excuses are what you make when you are trying to tell lies to yourself. They aren’t for anyone but you, and they’re dumb. I have no tolerance for them. One of my university buddies learned that the hard way. But, it’s a habit I’ve broken him of and he’s grateful for the tough love now. He’s also far more successful in many of his personal endeavors. Dump the excuses!!!
Rar!! Rabble rabble rabble!!
Thanks for the message! You’re fantastic!! <3
Cheers,
~Bonnie
Bonnie, could I ask you to post more motivational posts with quotes on them? I’m sorry I have to ask you instead of doing it myself like I probably should, but yours is the blog I regularly visit every morning and just reading some of those quotes (e.g. the Will Smith latest one) really gives me a motivational boost to go on and run, and start my day upbeat. Along with watching TED Talks :)) Please? Consider it?
Here you go. More than you can read in a lifetime.
(Item of note for everyone… sending the same message repeatedly isn’t likely to get you an answer any faster. Or… if it does get you one faster, it’s likely to be about as helpful as this one.)
I’m glad you guys appreciate my blog and that you find it helpful for your morning routine, but I have my own goals for this blog. I am also busy helping to admin a separate page over on G+. It eats up a lot of my time. Not to mention all the videos I’m recording and all the homework I’m doing. Building lessons plans for classes, helping set up a conference, trying to knit that blasted sweater, maintaining a social life, trying to be a wife and an entire plethora of other things that I do on a daily basis.
I’m not complaining, I’m really not. I love how very full my life is. I am so glad that I can be a source of motivation for you all while I live my life. That I can help give you guys strength in any number of ways, be it here for fitness, or be it through one of my other blogs helping you stand strong in your sexuality or your beliefs.
But this is my blog. I answer your questions, but I will not cater posts upon request (with the exception of possibly triggering pictures that I will take down when asked from a non-anon)
I don’t have time to hem and haw over what you guys want from my blog. If there is something you want to see… go find it. If you can’t even surf the web for what you want, where are you going to get in life? Take some time. Take a minute and ask yourself WHY are you asking someone else to do what you are perfectly capable of doing?
Can you find a picture? Can you find a quote? Can you open up BeFunky and paste the words on the picture? Yes. You can. So do it.
I’ve said it before… multiple times. Motivation is an excuse for people who don’t get things done. Not motivated? So what? I’m not motivated to do half the crap that I do every day. It’s work. It’s often hard work.
I struggle with migraines, a uterus that’s trying to kill me, tissue and cartilage damage all through my body… I live in pain but I don’t bitch about it. I get up every day and do what I’m supposed to do. Not because I’m motivated to do it, but because I’m supposed to do it. I don’t ask other people to do things for me. I get it done because I want to see it get done.
If you can’t do that much… you need to take a step back and reevaluate your life.
~Bonnie
- Any more side boob and there’s going to be nipple and YouTube will make it adult content. O_o (ermergerd, not a nipple! The horror!!! The unnatural state of it!! How dare a person have nipples! It’s just offensive!!) ;)
- There is a full picture of the tattoo here.
- I need more complex recipes if you guys want to see me move around, but everyone requested simple. I was giving you guys what you wanted! Shame on you all for being lazy chefs!
Thanks. I thought it would be fun and different. I enjoyed doing it and I will definitely be doing it again.
Cheers,
~Bonnie
