Naked has some great tasting drinks, but I have sworn off juice. When I first talked with my dietitian, this was one of the things I brought up in our very first visit. While they are pure and contain no artificial ingredients, they are pure sugar. All the fiber has been stripped from the fruit/vegetable and you are left with nothing but sugar. The benefit of feeling full is removed and there is a near instantaneous spike in your blood sugar.
Her compromise with me was to have half a serving, but once I finished the bottle (the Green Machine was always my favorite) I haven’t bought any since.
Homemade smoothies are a better option because you can put the entire fruit/vegetable in and gain all the benefits. Not to mention, if the studies are to be believed, a large percentage of vitamins and minerals degrade in a very short amount of time after juicing. So who knows how much of the nutrients the label proclaims actually makes it into your body?
But, if you have no issues with your blood sugar and no weight issues, drink up. I’m definitely not here to tell you there is a solid line of what you should and should not eat. I just know what experiences I’ve had and extrapolate based on that.
Cheers,
~Bonnie
